1st Grade Match Summary

1st Grade Match Summary

Southern District defeat Adelaide

Adelaide won the toss and sent us in on a pitch that looked like it had a bit in it for the bowlers. We played quite well and we’re 2/60 at lunch. A large partnership between Josh Barrett and Shaun Tanner saw us to 3/200 before they both fell.

At Stumps on Day 1 we were well poised at 9/259. We continued batting on Day 2, making our way to all out for 274.

Barrett 93 & Tanner 72 the leading run scorers.

Our Bowling innings started well picking up a couple of early wickets and Adelaide were 2 down at lunch.

Wickets weren’t easy to come by but we persisted and were able to take a couple quick wickets right before the second break to have Adelaide 5 down at Tea.

In the last session we needed 5 wickets and Adelaide needed 100 runs, the game was in the balance. We picked up a couple wickets through the session and as the session went deep the game got closer.

We ended up taking the last wicket with 9 balls remaining in the day and were victors by 7 runs.

Shaun Tanner 4/62, Mitch Cuming 2/26 and Jake Marshall 2/38 were the best with the ball.

Summary provided by Captain Joshua Barrett.
