1ST Grade Match Summary Round 5 v Port Adelaide
We lost the toss again and were bowling on a flat wicket at Bice. Port got off to a flyer and were 1/120 at lunch. A couple of big partnerships for Port had them in a position to declare 6/364 at the 84 over mark. This left us with 10 overs to bat late on Day 1 which we got through unbeaten finishing the day 0/43.
Best with the ball we’re our spinners with both Shaun Tanner and Mitch Cuming taking 3 wickets each.
On day 2 runs were hard to come by during the first session and we were sitting at 3/85 at lunch. It was a similar story in the second session but we were able to score a few more runs this time as we got to the tea break sitting at 5/167. Still needing just under 200 runs in the last session we needed a partnership to give us a chance of winning. We found a good partnership with Josh Barrett and Young Rilee Endersby putting on 104 runs for the 7th wicket. Unfortunately we were unable to get to the run rate required to chase down the 364 Port set and settled for a draw finishing 7/286 at stumps.
Skipper Josh Barrett managed to bat the entire 106 over innings finishing unbeaten on 151. He was well supported by Rilee who made his first 1st Grade half century.
